COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County is reporting 5 more residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday: 1 from Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 3 in El Dorado Hills, 1 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 0 in North County, 1 in Greater Placerville, -1 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 0 in South County, 0 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 0. Total now awaiting address confirmation: 95.

Of those new cases, 2 are under the age of 18, 1 is age 18-49, 0 are aged 50-64, and 1 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today's count: 1. Total birthdate unknown to date: 12.

There have been another 14 assumed recoveries with 470 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 732 negative results received.

There are currently 4 COVID-19 patients hospitalized and 1 of those is in the ICU. As of today, Barton has 0 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the ICU and 4hospitalized due to COVID-19 at Marshall, with 1 in the ICU. There are 0 suspected COVID-positive patients in the ICU at Barton. Also according to the State website, Barton has 2 available ICU beds, Marshall 0.

There has been one additional death, a 65+-year-old man from Greater Placerville. Since March 2020 there have been 110 COVID-related deaths in El Dorado County.

With respect to the tier assignment measures (and which color tiers those numbers fall in):

- Positivity rate: 3.2% (-0.2%) (Orange Tier)

The county moves to the Orange Tier, effective 4/7/21, and was notified on 4/27 they will stay in Orange. The numbers below are what is needed to move down to Yellow. All tiers are slated to be gone by June 15.

We are reporting 14 new cases and 23 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 12,443, with 11,808 recoveries and 225 deaths; 410 cases remain active.

During a data audit, it was determined that a previously reported death lived outside of the Quad-County Region. This individual was initially reported as a Carson City case and death. The total number of cases and deaths reflects the removal of this individual as well as the new cases identified today.
