South Lake Tahoe man dies in crash on Black Bart Avenue

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 75-year-old South Lake Tahoe man died Friday afternoon after driving off the roadway and striking a power pole. At about 1:20 p.m., the local man was heading northbound in a black Ford F-150 on Black Bart Avenue when, for unknown reasons, left the roadway. It is unknown at this time if speed played a factor or if it was a medical condition.

The driver was unresponsive at the scene and was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries at 2:17 p.m.

The driver has been identified as Joseph B. Hansen.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded along with Lake Valley Fire Rescue, and South Lake Tahoe Police sent a community service officer to direct traffic.

Liberty Utilities will be in the area for several hours to replace the power pole that was damaged in the collision. There was also some minor property damage.
