SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A fight that started inside Starbucks in the Village Center in South Lake Tahoe led to the arrests of two men, a 34-year-old and a 19-year-old, both out of Gardnerville.
When officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) arrived to the call of a big fight, the two men ran away towards the old Raley's. Witnesses pointed the officers in the direction of the men, both of whom refused to stop.
The 19-year-old eventually stopped and complied, according to SLTPD Lt. Scott Crivelli. The second man continued on foot, despite commands to stop. Another officer caught up to him and detained him without further incident.
There were many others involved, but most were scattered before SLTPD arrived. Officers contacted 5-6 people, but they couldn’t get a straight answer as to what caused the fight to start, Crivelli said.
The parties SLTPD spoke with, included those arrested, did not know each other.
After the fight investigation, it was considered a mutual fight and nobody desired prosecution for battery.
The teenager was arrested for a misdemeanor and has been released. The 34-year-old was also arrested for misdemeanor resisting/delaying but he is still detained due to a felony parole violation.
Crivelli said they heard mention of a gun but none was found during their investigation.
