El Dorado County supervisors to discuss VHRs at Tuesday meeting

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - On the heels of Supervisor Brooke Laine's community meeting on vacation home rentals (VHRs) in El Dorado County, the Board of Supervisors will receive the same presentation during its May 2 meeting.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. but Item 45, the VHR portion is time certain for 10 a.m. which means it cannot be heard prior to that though it could be later.

The Board will receive an update on the Vacation Home Rental Program and could direct staff on potential program adjustments and/or amendments to the ordinance.

During Supervisor Laine's, the public voiced their opinions on possible updates which include a look at the cap - many feel the 500-foot rule between VHRs removes the need for a cap; adding fire pit restrictions to include only gas ones and removing wood pits; increase fines; removing the workaround many use what is now called "hosted rentals"; and allowing the local contacts on VHRs to be decertified if managing properties improperly.

The meeting can be followed at https://edcgov-us.zoom.us/j/83431343857 or by attending at the Placerville board chambers. For participation information, visit https://eldorado.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx.
