Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe holds 40th annual Spelling Bee

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe has held a Spelling Bee for students in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District for the last 40 years. Last week the word action returned, with students from Sierra House, Bijou, and Meyers elementary schools participating (all local schools are invited).

These were some of the words presented to the students. Meyers Elementary took top honors by winning all divisions.

Division 1
1st/2nd Grade

Meyers Elementary - 120 points
Sierra House Elementary - 108 points

Division 2
3rd/4th Grade

Meyers Elementary - 121 points
Bijou Elementary - 107 points
Sierra House Elementary - 75 points

Division 3
5th Grade

Meyers Elementary - 108 points
Bijou Elementary - 94 points

Now the students are on their way to the county-level Spelling Bee at the end of the week.
