Douglas County School Board announces six candidates for superintendent job

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The Douglas County School District trustees will decide which of the six candidates for the superintendent position they will interview, and how they will obtain stakeholder feedback at their May 21 meeting.
Applications of the six individuals have been distributed to the trustees along with a screening form where they will individually rank the candidates. During the May 21 meeting, the trustees are scheduled to discuss their screening results and select which candidates will be brought forward for interviews.
At this time the candidate interview date and times have not been decided.
The six candidates:
Angelo Alvarado - He has been the Ukiah Unified School District Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for one year. Before that, he served as the Mammoth Unified School District middle school principal, director of human resources, and elementary school principal for four years; and as the Ontario Montclair School District middle school assistant principal for two years.
Bethany Hughes - She has been the Sweetwater City Schools (Tennessee) supervisor of special education/federal programs/ESSER for 2.5 years. Before that, she was the Dayton City Schools (Tenn.) director of special education; and 12 years as Spring City (Tenn.) middle school special education teacher.
Brent Judy - He is with the Storey County School District and has spent five years as high school, middle school, and elementary principal and safety operations coordinator. Before that, he was the Wells Combined Schools (Elko County) vice-principal and athletic director; and as a mathematics teacher at the Academy of Arts, Careers & Technology in Washoe County.
Tony Meinerding - His experience has been overseas: Rowad Al Khaleej International Schools in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as director/superintendent for five years, Abu Dhabi Dept of Education principal in Abu Dhabi for three years, and principal at Ajial Bilingual International School of Kuwait for two years.
Patrick Peters - He has been the principal at Silver Stage High School in Lyon County School District for 19 years and was the assistant principal for three years. He was also a teacher in the same district at Silver Stage Middle School for eight years. He is a graduate of Douglas High School.
Louise Simson - She has been the superintendent at Anderson Valley Unified School District in Booneville, Calif. for three years, assistant superintendent and principal in the Vallecito Union School District (Avery, CA) for three years, and a special education teacher in the San Mateo Foster City School District for two years.
