Arrest made after stolen car crashes, suspect evades police in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A Reno man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car in Sacramento and failing to stop for officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) on Wednesday, May 8.

About 24 hours later, at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, SLTPD received a call from an alert resident stating there was a suspicious person near Alpine Drive and Venice Dr. in South Lake Tahoe. The caller said this person matched the description of Wednesday's auto theft suspect, and that he asked them how to get a bus to Reno.

SLTPD officers arrived and located 27-year-old Dylan English. They were able to determine English was the suspect who was driving the stolen Audi, crashed it, and fled from them on foot.

English was arrested for evading police and vehicle theft.

SLTPD is thanking the community for the help.

On Wednesday, multiple agencies responded to the BevMo parking lot in South Lake Tahoe where the suspect had crashed the stolen car on rocks after evading police, and then fled on foot through Tahoe Outdoor Living nursery and area streets. CHP helicopter assisted in trying to locate the suspect but perimeter search and air search were called off when the suspect could not be located.
