Four injured in head-on collision on US50 at Zephyr Point

UPDATE: At approximately 8:37 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on US-50 in the area of Douglas County Mile Marker 13. A silver Toyota Corolla and a silver Toyota 4-Runner collided in what Nevada State Police are calling an angle crash. Investigators have determined that the Toyota Corolla was traveling too fast, drove left of center, and struck the front of the Toyota 4-Runner. The driver of the Corolla was cited for failing to use Due Care (NRS 484B.603). Eastbound lanes were blocked. The two occupants of the Corolla were transported to an area hospital with unspecified, but suspected serious injuries for the passenger and minor injuries for the driver.

ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. - Traffic is moving again on Highway 50 after a head-on collision Wednesday night at approximately 9:35 p.m. at the Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center on US-50.

According to the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, four people were transported to Barton Hospital. They said in a social media post that there were no fatalities and seatbelts and airbags saved lives in this collision.

Nevada State Police, Highway Division, is currently investigating the collision.
