Wet and cooler weekend ahead for Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just as summer-like daytime temperatures started to settle in, a low pressure system will bring in cooler temperatures, showers and a few thunderstorms this weekend. There is even a chance of snow at upper elevations. Thunderstorms could linger into Monday with a period of breezy conditions possible next week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Reno.

The weekend forecast from NWS Reno:

Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tonight - Partly cloudy, with a low around 40. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
