Total lunar eclipse visible from Northern Hemisphere Sunday

There will be a total lunar eclipse taking place Sunday, May 15, and it will be visible from Lake Tahoe as long as the clouds cooperate. The partial eclipse starts at 7:59 p.m., with a total eclipse from 8:29 p.m. to 9:53 p.m. The event will be ending at 11:51 p.m.

The full moon will be in the shadow of the Earth, turning it a red hue, giving it the name of Blood Moon. This eclipse is also known as the Flower Moon due to it happening when there is an abundance of flowers in the Northern Hemisphere.

Much of the region will be mostly cloudy, but some areas will be able to see it better than others.

A total lunar eclipse takes place when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon and its shadow covers the Moon. Eclipse watchers can see the Moon turn red when the eclipse reaches totality.
