South Lake Tahoe forecast: Warming temps and chance of rain and thunderstorms by next weekend

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The weekend is ending with showers and thunderstorms as an area of low pressure and increased moisture came over the region. During the coming week, there will be a steady warmup that will exacerbate snowmelt and cause stream and river rise regionwide. Most areas will be dry for the early part of the week, then shower and thunderstorm chances arrive as early as Thursday afternoon through next weekend.

The weekly forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 72. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 38. South wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 36. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 76.

Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 38.

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 76.

Thursday Night - Mostly clear, with a low of around 40.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 75.

Friday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low of around 41.
