US50 at Spooner Summit reopened after three-vehicle collision cleared

Six people were transported to area hospitals Saturday afternoon after a three-car collision in the eastbound lanes of US 50 near Spooner Summit on the Carson City side of the highway.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision which occurred at approximately 10:52 a.m. on May 15. One of the cars rolled over.

There were six occupants in the vehicles and they were all sent to the hospital via ground ambulance and air flights. Injuries are not life-threatening at this time, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. John Dodge.

The highway was closed for close to 3.5 hours as the victims were assisted and the scene cleared.

The cause of the collision is under investigation according to Sgt. Dodge. Driver impairment is not suspected.
