May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the community is invited to “Talk Saves Lives - An Introduction to Suicide Prevention” with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The event, organized by Peace Love Tahoe, will take place on Thursday, May 18 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Untethered Workspace in Round Hill, Nev.
Talk Saves Lives is a 45-minute presentation describing the scope of the problem of suicide, the risk factors, warning signs, and what we can all do to help prevent it. This is an evidence-based, trademarked program created by the AFSP National team.
Attendees can register here for the free event https://tsltahoe.attendease.com/. Everyone is welcome to attend. Untethered Workspace is located in the Round Hill Village (across the parking lot from Round Hill Safeway), 195 US 50.
Mai Tran, the AFSP Nevada area director, will be facilitating this event and is looking forward to connecting with organizations in the Tahoe area.
After the presentation will be a community networking hour. Local organizations as well as interested members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend.
In addition to the Thursday event, please also consider joining Mai for the AFSP Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Sparks, Nev. on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
