SR88 closed between Picketts Junction and Crystal Springs

UPDATE 8:30AM TUESDAY: There is now one-way controlled traffic through the stretch on SR88.

State Route 88 was closed Monday night between Picketts Junction and Crystal Springs East after a rapidly deteriorating roadway was discovered. There is no estimated time for the reopening of the closure according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

Those needing to travel from South Lake Tahoe to Woodfords or Markleville will need to use Kingsbury Grade. The road is clear at the 88/89 junction and westward on 88 and travel in that direction is not impacted.
