Weekly forecast: Warming trend for Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Good news - Warmer temperatures (and no snow) are forecast for the week ahead! With the exception of Wednesday, rather typical westerly afternoon breezes can be expected this week according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

The theme this week will be warming temperatures through Thursday, although a progressive wave moving by to the north will briefly stall or even reverse warming on Tuesday before it resumes on Wednesday. Westerly breezes will kick up with gusts to about 25-35 mph Monday afternoon as a front works into far northern California (with a chance of rain to the far north of both Nevada and California). NWS Reno says nothing too worrisome but breezes will bring increased lake chop. Tuesday is expected to remain breezy with afternoon gusts of about 20-30 mph.

The stage is being set for afternoon buildups and a chance for showers and thunderstorms over next weekend in the future.
