Lake Wind Advisory in effect again for Lake Tahoe Friday

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued another Lake Wind Advisory for the Lake Tahoe Basin, this time for Friday, May 27 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday appears to be more of the same but no warning has been issued at this time. If planning outdoor activities, follow the current weather reports.

Expect winds from the west, 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40. For Lake Tahoe specifically, waves of 2 to 4 feet.

The advisory also covers Walker, Frenchman, Stampede, Davis, Donner, Fallen Leaf, Prosser and Boca lakes and reservoirs.

As the first advisory expires on Thursday at 11 p.m., the next one starts back up at 11 a.m. Friday.

Small boats, kayaks, and paddleboards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve. Keep an eye on conditions if recreating on the water.

Friday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Friday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

Saturday - A 20 percent chance of showers after 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a southwest wind 5 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.

Saturday Night - A chance of rain showers before 2am, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Snow level 9000 feet lowering to 6700 feet after midnight . Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Sunday - A 20 percent chance of showers after 11am. Snow level rising to 6700 feet in the afternoon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunday Night - A chance of rain showers before 8pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 8pm and 11pm, then a slight chance of snow showers after 11pm. Snow level 6900 feet lowering to 6300 feet after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Memorial Day - A slight chance of snow showers before 11am, then a chance of rain showers. Snow level rising to 7000 feet in the afternoon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 32.
