June lottery for up to 12 new Lake Tahoe pier allocations

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - The Shoreline Plan that was adopted by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) in 2018 laid out the future of pier and buoy allocations around Lake Tahoe. A maximum of 128 private piers and 1,486 private moorings will be allowed along the shore of Lake Tahoe, with allotments awarded through periodic lotteries until the cap is met.

Every two years, TRPA can permit up to 12 new piers in the Tahoe Basin, with a preference for multiple-parcel, shared-use piers. Through the lottery,

TRPA announced they will be accepting lottery entries between June 1 and June 30, 2021. They will select applications that can move forward to the permitting process by July 20, 2021. No additional pier allocations will be available until 2023.
