Dear District V Residents: I am running to serve as your local County Supervisor.
As a lifelong El Dorado County resident, I have years of experience in both the public and private sectors. Together we have survived fighting COVID and fires. We have supported one another in our communities making them a purposeful place to live, work, and play.
My economics degree is from UC Santa Cruz. I am a wife, mother, Soroptimist, retired bank manager, and former Mayor and City Councilmember. I work well with partner agencies having served on the Education Foundation, Ambulance System, Clean Tahoe, Tahoe Conservancy, TRPA, Waste Management, and the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) for El Dorado County. I accept challenges and get jobs done.
I will tackle the issues and work with our residents throughout the district to provide solutions to many critical issues including:
· Housing: I propose that we partner with both the private and public sectors to provide housing that keeps our labor force local. I also support renovating existing infrastructure such as dilapidated hotels and motels to more effectively provide affordable housing stock.
· Room Tax: (Transient Occupancy Tax paid by visitors). I support an increase in the Transient Occupancy Tax in Meyers between 3-6% with all increment revenue dedicated to snow removal within the basin and a new code enforcement program in Meyers to respond to vacation home rental issues.
· Fire: I propose that voluntary fire evacuation warnings trigger mandatory tourist evacuation. That way if mandatory evacuations are called for the residents, we are able to get out of the basin safely. I will support protections for residents against insurance companies' policy cancellations by implementing FireWise neighborhoods throughout the district.
· Public Safety: I will make sure that our public safety departments have the tools, equipment, and sufficient labor force to execute their jobs.

Regardless of the issue, my record shows I work conscientiously with all sides arriving at fair and meaningful solutions. I have the experience, strength, and desire to serve as your El Dorado County Supervisor. I respectfully ask for your vote on June 7, 2022.
