CHP holding free car seat check event at their South Lake Tahoe office

Event Date:
June 12, 2021 - 11:00am

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be conducting a car seat check-up event at their South Lake Tahoe office on Saturday, June 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Call for an appointment at 530-577-1001 and walk-ups are welcome.

The current law states child passengers must ride in either a car seat or booster seat until the age of eight years old and the only exception to the law is if the child is 4 feet 9 inches in height.

Child safety seats installed and used correctly have been proven to save lives. The CHP urges parents and guardians to reduce the risk of death and injury to their children by allowing a certified car seat technician to properly secure their child in a safety seat. Child safety seats and safety belts, when installed and used properly, can prevent injuries and save lives.

Certified child passenger safety technicians will be available to check car seats for proper installation and advise parents and caregivers on how to install them properly in their vehicles. Drive-up visits are welcome and we encourage parents or caregivers to have their children present during the fitting and installation of the car seat or booster seat.

Funding for the CHP program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

WHEN: Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
WHERE: California Highway Patrol, 2063 Hopi Avenue, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

There will be a second event on Saturday, July 24 at the same time and location.
