Missing man located along Carson River after law enforcement finds abandoned car

ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. - A man was rescued from along the Carson River on Wednesday after being listed as a missing person in Alpine County.

On Sunday, May 28, a vehicle was located abandoned along SR88 in Woodfords Canyon. After law enforcement contacted the registered owner of the vehicle it was determined the vehicle had been taken without permission, and that the owner's adult son was also missing.

After filing a Missing Persons report with the Alpine County Sheriff's Office, the search began to locate the missing young man. He was finally located on Wednesday, May 31 along the Carson River. CHP's H20 rescue helicopter was called in to assist in getting the man back across the raging river. He was transported to a local hospital.

The California Highway Patrol and Alpine County Sheriff's Office coordinated efforts on this call.
