Two injured in US50 crash at Lake Tahoe near Glenbrook

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A two-vehicle collision at Lake Tahoe on Thursday morning left two people with minor injuries and traffic tied up for a couple of hours until the crash site could be cleared.

The Nevada State Police Highway Division responded to the crash near Mile Marker 8 in Douglas County just after 11 a.m. on June 1.

According to Nevada State Police PIO Kim Yoko Smith, a white Volkswagon SUV was traveling eastbound on US50 just as a commercial motor vehicle box truck was westbound. For reasons unknown at this time, the driver of the SUV allow their vehicle to cross over the double yellow centerline, striking the truck.

The commercial vehicle ended up over the embankment and the SUV came to a rest blocking the #2 westbound lane. The two drivers were the only ones in their vehicles and they were both transported to a hospital by ambulance for minor injuries

Smith reminds drivers to take their time so they can arrive at their destination safely.
