Highs to reach the 80s in South Lake Tahoe this week

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There is a return of high pressure this week, leading to drier conditions and light winds on tap for Monday and Tuesday. The significant warmup of the summer season arrives by midweek, with temperatures rising to 15 degrees above normal by the end of the week.

The forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 72. Light south wind becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 38. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light south in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 77. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 43. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening.

Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Light southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
