El Dorado County election results

Under half of the registered voters in El Dorado County turned out in the polls Tuesday for the Presidential primary race that also chose a county judge and a few measures adjusting the county charter and growth in the county.

50,477, or 46.11 percent of the voters, voted in the June 7, 2016 election.

Measures needed to pass by a majority:

Measure A passed by a 2,600 vote margin with 53.02 percent of the vote. The preamble of the County Charter will be changed to new wording.

Measure E narrowly passed 51.81 percent to 48.19 percent. This reverses the law voters approved in 2008 and will enact certain restrictions and policies concerning roads and traffic congestion designed to restrict commercial and residential developments that could negatively affect traffic.

Measure G defeated by 51.24 percent to 48.76 percent. The initiative to prohibit new commercial and residential development from being created unless existing water supplies and ability to connect to existing sewer systems failed. It had been proposed by slow-growth advocates.

Measure J passed 63.47 percent to 36.53 percent. It will clean up the county charter by removing items no longer valid.

In the County Supervisor race, the top two for each district will face a run-off in November.

District 1 - Former assemblywoman Beth Gaines earned 25.58% of the vote with John Hidahl right behind at 23.17%.

District 2 - Incumbent Shiva Frentzen from District 2 has 60.47%, Dave Pratt 37.99% of the vote.

District 3 - Brian Veerkamp, the current Supervisor for District 3 had 74.90% of the vote. Carol Louis, 27.89%

Judges Kenneth Melikian and Nelson K. Brooks will retain their seats on the bench.
