Flag Day Ceremony at American Legion

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The American Legion Post 795 is joining Boy Scout Troop #594 to retire American and POW/MIA flags on Flag Day, June 14 at 5:30 p.m.

The Lake Tahoe Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has been gathering used flags unable to be flown for official disposal during the Flag Retirement Ceremony.

Flad Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution, passed on June 14, 1777. The resolution passed that day stated: "Resolved, That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation."
