Where is summer? Flash flood warning starts off the weekly forecast for South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Those hoping for two days to string together for a sunny, warm, and dry start to the summer season will have to wait a while. After a wild and wet Sunday in South Lake Tahoe, what does the week ahead have in store?

There was a lot of thunderstorm activity Sunday evening, followed by heavy rain, with more expected.

Widespread thunderstorm coverage with elevated concerns for flash flooding continues through Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. There is a Flash Flood Warning in place through Monday at 9 p.m. Storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, small hail, and gusty outflow winds. Thunderstorm chances decrease slightly Tuesday and become more isolated from Wednesday through the end of the week with temperatures warming back towards seasonal levels.

Monday - A chance of showers, then showers, and possibly a thunderstorm after 8 am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 62. South wind around 5 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday Night -A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 43. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday - A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 44. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday - A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming east in the morning.
