One person air lifted to hospital after crashing vehicle in front of Harveys Tahoe

STATELINE, Nev. - One person was critically injured Monday morning after the vehicle they were driving left the roadway in front of Harveys Lake Tahoe crashing into the fence along US50.

At 10:25 a.m. on June 19, a red Kia Forte departed its westbound travel lane on US50, crashing into the fence line in front of the casino, and sticking it twice before returning to the roadway where it struck a vehicle stopped at the red light, causing that vehicle to then strike the car in front of it.

The driver of the Kia Forte was airlifted to a hospital with critical injuries according to Kim Yoko Smith of the Nevada State Police - Highway Division.

Smith said they are unaware of any changes to their condition.

There were no other occupants of the Kia. The drivers of the other two vehicles involved were not injured.

Smith said there is no further information on the crash. The reason for the lane departure by the driver of the Kia is not known at this time.

Two people inside Harveys had minor injuries from glass coming into the casino onto the escalator just inside the window.

US50 westbound lanes were closed for several hours, and traffic was diverted to Lake Parkway as the scene was cleared.
