A body found in the Truckee River on Thursday night has been positively identified by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office as 32-year-old Sarah Duncan, the woman who went missing Wednesday after falling into the river.
She was seen falling from a raft in the Truckee River near Crystal Peak Park. A search by the Swift water rescue teams from Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and the Reno Fire Department took place Wednesday afternoon.
Her body was located by the HASTY team searching in the water east of Bridge Street in Verdi, about two miles from where she was last seen. Washoe County Sheriff's spokesperson Bob Harmon said the area she was found was a difficult spot to reach. Search and rescue volunteers had also been searching from the bank.
The cause of death has not been established. Duncan is reported to be from the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
