July to mark a big change in temperatures, but until then...

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Chances for afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms continue through the middle of the week with relatively mild
temperatures for late June. A ridge will bring significantly warmer and drier conditions by the end of the week and into the July 4th holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. This warm-up will also bring rises to all area waterways.

We all knew summer was going to have to arrive eventually, and it`s showing up in a big way by the end of the work week and into the 4th of July holiday weekend. Highs will soar into the mid to upper 90s for lower elevation valleys and mid to upper 80s for mountain valleys. While only about 5-8 degrees above normal for this time of the year, it`s going to feel like quite a shock to the system after this relatively cool stretch we have just gone through.
