Celebrate the 4th of July with the Virginia Truckee Railroad

VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. - Load up your car with family and friends and treat them to a day of fun and nostalgia at one of the best Independence Day parties in Northern Nevada.

Start with a ride on the historic V&T railway. Their open-air cars offer breathtaking views of the high desert landscape as you traverse the original 1800s Comstock route. Check out the remnants of gold mines, the 400 ft original Tunnel #4, and keep your eyes peeled for wild mustangs. Your train ride is an immersive 35-minute experience narrated by our knowledgeable conductors. As a special treat, all riders on the 4th of July will receive a small American Flag so you can show off your patriotism.

And there is plenty more to do in Virginia City to celebrate this great holiday. At noon, watch the Fourth of July Parade, go shopping in the afternoon, and enjoy a free concert at 6 p.m. with David John and the Comstock Cowboys. All capped off with Virginia City’s Fireworks Spectacular at dusk.

Trains run seven times during the day starting at 10:30 a.m. Plus, they've added two additional trains at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Buy your tickets in advance online at www.virginiatruckeerailroad.com or same day at the depot. Adults ride the diesel train for just $17, children age 5-12 for $8, and those aged four and under join us for free. Your journey begins at the original V&T 1870 passenger depot at 166 F Street in Virginia City, Nevada.
