Tahoe Douglas Rotary awards Whittell High School graduates scholarships

Each year, the Tahoe-Douglas Rotary Club awards higher education scholarships to deserving Whittell High seniors in support of their post-secondary educational plans. The Rotary Scholarship Committee looks for students with character who have excelled in scholastics, leadership, athletics, and student activities.

The funds generated for these scholarships come through Tahoe Douglas Rotary’s selected annual fundraising events and related efforts within the community.

This year, two scholarships were awarded to a pair of impressive young women at Whittell, Lila Humlick and Daniella Cristando.

Each of these scholarship recipients dedicated themselves to serving their community while participating in school sports and excelling in the classroom. For their excellence, Daniella and Lila were each awarded a $3,000 scholarship grant for their respective first year of college.

Tahoe Douglas Rotary, through scholarship chairperson Larry Sidney, wants to sincerely wish both of its scholarship winners the best of luck and much success. They encourage them to abide by Rotary’s 4-Way Test in their daily actions: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendship? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
