Weekend wildflower and tree hikes at Carson Pass

The El Dorado National Forest Interpretive Association is having two flower walks and one tree walk at the Carson Pass this July 2-4. All hikes will begin at the Carson Pass Information Center on SR-88. They are all open to the public, free of charge.

On July 2 and July 4 at 10:00 a.m., join the Wildflowers Hike. The walk will go through lupine and many other flowers at Carson Pass on the way to Frog Lake. The walk is along an easy path and will take about 2.5 hours. The leader of the "relaxed walk" is Lu B.

On July 3, Walk Among the Trees at 10:00 a.m. with David. Learn about the trees in the Mokelumne Wilderness as you take a stroll through a magical forest. Each participant will leave with a better understanding of the Sierra Nevada forest community and the individual roles the many species of trees play in the ecosystem. This is a 2.5 hour hike and is listed as moderate-easy trail.

The Information Center is located between Caples Lake and Red Lake on SR-88 and the bend in the road.
