Breezy, cooler 4th of July on tap for South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Seasonably warm temperatures will prevail through Saturday at Lake Tahoe before cooler and below-average temperatures arrive through the holiday weekend. There is no rain in the forecast for South Lake Tahoe and dry conditions will prevail.

Critical fire weather conditions are possible in any areas that have cured fuels, but according to the National Weather Service and US Forest Service, fuels remain in transition and critically dry fuels are not widespread enough to issue fire weather warnings yet. The use of fire is still not allowed in much of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

If on the lake this holiday, watch wind conditions, especially in the afternoon and evening. The dry and breezy weekend will have some recreational impacts, so stay informed.

Temperatures start to rise again Tuesday with a forecast 72 at the lake.
