Plane goes down in Rubicon Bay - Two rescued

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A single fixed-wing aircraft went down in Lake Tahoe Saturday morning at Rubicon Bay. The two people on board were rescued by citizen boaters in the area, with one of those from the plane having a serious head injury, according to El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) Captain Michael Lensing.

The plane is now fully submerged underwater.

EDSO has units responding to assist and their boat is on the water at the scene to watch for fuel leaks and other Hazmat issues.

According to Lansing, they believe the occupants and/or the plane are out of Imperial County, but there is no confirmation at this time. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA and National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified.
