A 5-year-old boy was found safe and in good spirits Sunday morning after spending the night alone in El Dorado County.
On Saturday, two boys, ages 4 and 5 were camping and riding quads with their father when the dad's motorcycle broke down. The kids did not notice dad was no longer with them.
The 4-year-old was located immediately but the search for the older boy went into the night. Over 100 volunteers from 16 counties joined in the search on off-road highway vehicles, air support, K9 Teams and ground searchers and worked all night to locate the child.
On Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. he was found unharmed and in high spirits according to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office. He told search and rescuers he had ridden his quad until it was out of gas then began to follow his tire tracks back towards camp. When he got tired he fell asleep under some trees using a rock as a pillow.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office would like to give a big thanks volunteers, CHP, National Guard, US Air Force, US Coast Guard and the Red Cross.
