Independence Day cooler than normal at Lake Tahoe, warming up during the week

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Below-average temperatures with some passing clouds and afternoon breezes will prevail through the July 4th holiday. A dry pattern will persist for the upcoming week with typical late-day breezes. Temperatures will gradually warm to near average later in the week
through next weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Reno.
A trough of low pressure along the west coast will keep cooler conditions (more typical for mid-late September) through the rest of the holiday weekend. For those heading out for festivities Monday evening, the breezes
For the upcoming week, we`re expecting a slow warming trend starting Tuesday as the main low-pressure trough retreats off the west coast, while high pressure remains centered over the south central-southeast US. Temperatures by late week and next weekend look to be near seasonal averages, with highs in the lower-mid 90s for lower elevations and around 80 for Sierra valleys.

Independence Day - Sunny, with a high near 69. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the morning.
Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 42. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming light in the evening.
Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 72. Light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 43. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 74. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
