Pay Fire burning east of Placerville off of US50

UPDATE 8 a.m. Monday: Evacuation Warnings have been lifted on areas except for some parts of Texas Hill Rd and Pay Dirt Rd. The Placerville Airport remains under an Evacuation Order. Please use caution in the area as Emergency Personnel and equipment are operating in the area. Evacuation Shelter is now closed. The fire remains at 77 acres and 25 percent containment.

UPDATE 7:10 p.m. Sunday: Crews are holding the fire at 77 acres and it is 25 percent contained, according to Cal Fire. There have been changes to the areas under evacuation orders and warnings, but they remain in effect (visit https://perimetermap.com/ for details). The evacuation center at Union Mine High School remains open. While crews are well-trained for wildfire conditions, the continued extreme heat and low humidity remain a challenge for the crews while on the fire line. Crews will continue containment efforts – including constructing and fortifying control lines and extinguishing hot spots – throughout the night.

An overnight shelter has been established at Union Mine High School at 6530 Koki Ln in El Dorado, and an animal shelter is at West Slope Animal Shelter at 6435 Capitol Avenue, Diamond Springs.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The Pay Fire started Saturday afternoon, and mandatory evacuations and evacuation warnings are in place for the area near the Placerville Airport, south of US50.

Reports say the fire is now at 62 acres with 0% containment. Several airplanes are being used to fight the fire at this time, as well as ground crews.
