Curry family having fun playing golf together at Lake Tahoe this week

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - The Curry family is in Lake Tahoe to play in the 32nd annual American Century Championship. Dad Dell, and sons Steph and Seth played at Edgewood Thursday and took time at the end of the day to meet with the media.

A large group of San Francisco Warrior fans followed the "Curry Boys" during their round.

"The Bay is awesome. Fan base is awesome. It’s a great place to play and great place to live," said Steph Curry.

The family was happy to play golf together, something they said is harder and harder to do with their scheduled. Dell is a color commentator for the Charolette Hornets, Seth plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, and Steph is in San Francisco.

"This opportunity is pretty dope to have all three of us here," said Steph. "Obviously Seth’s first time, and hopefully not his last. And we all love to play when we get the opportunity and have fun doing it."

Dell said they looked forward to this week in Tahoe to share their love for the game, and each other.

"Steph and I have been here the last few years together," said Dell. "But to have Seth here this year, it’s been a blast so far, the first couple of days. And can’t wait to play when it really matters and put the numbers on the scorecard that count. Good camaraderie and fellowship to hang out with the guys but also a good, competitive vibe as a family as well."

Steph, Seth and Dell are in the same group Friday and will be teeing off for the first round of the championship at 11:11 a.m.

"Tomorrow it will be each man for their own ball," said Dell as they get town to business. We’ve helped each other out a little bit these first few days. Tomorrow we’ll say good shot when you hit a good shot, but it’s up to you to hit good shots and good putts. Probably won’t be a lot of help."

"I don’t want to embarrass myself, obviously," said Seth as he prepares for teeing off in his first American Century Championship. "I want to come out here, put some good scores up. Obviously it’s a different adjustment playing in front of fans and competitively for the first time ever. So it’s going to be a fun and good test for myself."

Steph and Dell have had a jump into Lake Tahoe as part of their annual bet on who ends up higher on the leader board at the end of the tournament. Now that Seth in in Tahoe, they'll all be in the bet so it could be two Currys in the Lake on Sunday.

Steph almost didn't make the tournament because of the Olympics. He said it was a hard decision not becoming part of Team USA, but he wanted to concentrate on the offseason and preparing for next season.

"I wish them all the success and a gold medal to show for it and whatnot," said Step of the Olympic team."It just wasn’t right for me. And I’m very confident in that decision. No regrets at all. Obviously being here I’m playing golf, having fun with my family. And that’s a personal thing. But there’s always that itch to play and play on the biggest stage like the Olympics, but it just wasn’t the right thing for me and the right time."

Seth said he's always found it fun to watch the American Century from home, and always wanted to be a part of it.

"Good to be out here, experience it all, experience all the fans. And I’m looking forward to it," said Seth.

With betting going on between the three Currys this week, it was asked of Steph what his favorite story is of on course betting.

"Probably the dollar I won from Barack Obama. That’s a story in and of itself.," said Steph. "Playing with him in Martha’s Vineyard - anytime you get to play with the president, doesn’t have to be a big denomination of money, just needs to change hands. That was probably a good one. My dad was out there with us. Ray Allen was out there. It was a good time. First time we played with him."

"But between us, maybe this would be the weekend that we have our best story. We’ll see," he added.

"We love golf. It’s a passion. It’s something that we grew up doing with our dad. And we have a lot of fun," said Steph. "But in this tournament, the venue, being up here at Lake Tahoe, it’s beautiful. It’s great views, great energy. You never really get a chance to play competitive golf in front of a gallery. And with stakes on the line on every shot. So being in that situation, we’re all competitors, we love to be in that line of fire out there and try to show up and see how we do. That’s fun. To have all of us out here playing in the same group on Friday, makes it even better."
