Kudos: Edgewood Resort sponsors their first Bread & Broth Monday Meal

Through Bread & Broth’s Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsorship program, individuals, families, church groups, organizations, and businesses have the opportunity to help fund and participate in serving a full-course, healthy dinner to individuals and families that need a helping hand with a hot well-balanced meal and a welcoming environment to enjoy themselves while they are dining.

In addition to the meal, the AAD sponsor crew members also help bag and distribute food “giveaway” bags filled with food to help the dinner guests through the remainder of the week. Bread & Broth’s (B&B) “green goal” initiative funds the weekly purchase of $1,200 worth of dairy products (milk, eggs, and butter) and fresh fruit and vegetables for inclusion in the “giveaway” bags. The bags are also filled with food donated by local stores and the El Dorado Food Bank which include items such as meat, yogurt, breads, pastries, canned goods, drinks, and a variety of basic staples.

At the Monday Meal, on Monday, July 1, Edgewood Tahoe Resort, sponsored their first AADs, and Edgewood team members Siobhan Fajayan and Jeff Blom, each donated three hours of their time and effort to help the B&B volunteers with the meal’s setup, serving 110 dinner guests, and taking down and cleaning up after the dinner.

“Thank you for the opportunity to give back to our community in service,” co-wrote Siobhan and Jeff. “The event was extremely organized, and we felt part of the team, and in the future, more members of the Edgewood team will want to participate at future Monday Meals.”

Although this was Edgewood’s first AAD sponsorship, Edgewood has been very generous in providing desserts at some of B&B’s Thanksgiving and Christmas meal food giveaways during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. For first-time volunteers, Siobhan and Jeff were great and enthusiastically joined in to help wherever they were needed. Kudos to Edgewood and their team members for wanting to support those in need in our community.
