Movies are the theme of next Lake Tahoe History Talks at the Beach

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - What do Whitney Houston, Ryan Reynolds, Tom Cruise, and Elizabeth Taylor have in common? Find out at the second week of the new series, Lake Tahoe History Talks at the Beach.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and the Lake Tahoe Historical Society have teamed together to bring weekly history talks to the beach this summer!

This week's talk on July 13 is from Robin Holabird, author, film reporter, and former Deputy Director of the Nevada Film Office, who will present “Movie Memories at Lake Tahoe."

The talk is from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and in the shady side of the Lakeview Commons amphitheater.

Last week the well-attended talk was presented by the Borges Brothers. They discussed geology and history of the area and shared stories of growing up at the lake and giving tours on their dad's sleigh rides.

All of the talks are free though donations are accepted. Robin will have her books on hand to sell.

Next on tap is on July 20 when David Long presents on the historical (and entertaining) aspects of vegetables that can be grown in Tahoe. July 27 is author Peter Mires on "Wicked Virginia City," his latest book.

The schedule is filling up quickly and people can find out more information at http://www.laketahoemuseum.org/

These programs are for all ages and Tahoe Tessie's Beach Bites will be open late for this event.
