Tim Brown aces the 12th hole at the American Century Championship, winning a MasterCraft X24

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - There was a lot of excitement at Edgewood Tahoe Friday, from a momma bear and her two cubs sauntering across the fairway to Tim Brown getting a hole-in-one, earning him a new MasterCraft X24 boat valued at over $200,000.

The Hall of Fame receiver hit the cup with an incredible shot on hole #12.

Friday at the ACC Golf Championship, Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Tim Brown shot an incredible hole-in-one on hole #12, winning himself a MasterCraft X24 valued at over $200,000.

Tim had to be told by Marcus Allen that he won the boat with his ace, he thought he just had a great shot. It was Brown, Allen, and Jerome Bettis in their threesome Friday.

"Tim is the first player to win a boat since MasterCraft became involved with the tournament several years ago,” said MasterCraft Vice President of Marketing, Krista Schipner. “We are thrilled for Tim to receive his new MasterCraft and can't wait to see him out on the water. The excitement doesn't stop here, though. There are unlimited opportunities to give away a boat on hole #12, so anyone else who makes a hole-in-one this weekend will also win an X24."

With a story of his own, Charles Barkley is the focal point of a popular proposition bet about whether he will finish among the top 75 in the field of 90. He made two birdies on the front nine, finished with 3 points, and is tied for 48th.

It’s the only time in the Stableford era (since 2003) that he has finished with positive points.

“I had a great time,” Barkley, a Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer, said. “It's the best I've ever probably played anywhere, probably. But I played really well. I was really confident. I played great today, and I'm really looking forward to the next couple days.”

Korbel California Champagne, a longtime sponsor of the tournament, hosted a $250,000 closest-to-the-hole contest among 12 celebrity players (also for charity), which took place after the conclusion of the first round Friday. Derek Lowe recorded the closest-to-the-pin - 4’ 9” – winning $5000 to the charity of his choice, which was donated to ‘Canine Companions.’
