Two Measure S-funded South Lake Tahoe road rehabilitation projects set to begin

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Funds from the voter-approved Measure S tax increase in 2020 will be used on two road rehabilitation projects set to begin in July. The plans were in place before Measure S, but they not funded until now.

The City of South Lake Tahoe will begin the road rehabilitation projects July 14:

Lake Tahoe Boulevard from Viking Way to the Y Intersection - July 14-mid-August

Pioneer Trail from the intersection of Pioneer Trail and Black Bart Avenue to Blackwood Road - July 26-end of August

Spruce Avenue, the entire length - July 26-end of August

The attached map can be found online and shows City of South Lake Tahoe road projects by year.

The $2.78M project is funded predominately from Measure S revenue. Southwest Gas has also contributed $244,605 toward the project as they have been working in the area and cutting into pavement.

Measure S is a general sales tax measure approved by the South Lake Tahoe voters during the November 3, 2020 election. This one-cent sales tax took effect on April 1, 2021, increasing South Lake Tahoe's sales tax rate from 7.75 percent to 8.75 percent.
