City begins road rehabilitation projects on Monday, July 17

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The City of South Lake Tahoe will start its road rehabilitation projects around town on Monday, July 17. When traveling in the project areas over the next five weeks, be aware there will be traffic control operations.

The first week will have minimal traffic control and will impact Julie Lane, Margaret Avenue, and F St.

For the 2nd week, July 24, and going through August 7, traffic control will be fully in effect in the Julie Lane/D Street area as well as in the Ski Run Blvd. area. Be prepared for short delays and take alternate routes if possible. Hand-delivered notifications from the contractor will also be issued to residents in the affected areas starting July 17.

Per City specification and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency requirements, workwill be conducted Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Some Saturdays are an option.

The road rehabilitation paving project has been contracted to Doug Veerkamp General Engineering and are funded through a combination of Measure S and in-lieu pavement fees from Southwest Gas and South Tahoe Public Utility District for utility replacement work.

Concurrently, the city will begin its pothole repair project. Work will take place in the following locations:

-Park Avenue and Pine Avenue
-Johnson Blvd. from Al Tahoe Blvd. to Fairway Dr.
-10th Street from Emerald Bay Road to Taylor Way

Those who must travel in the vicinity of either project are urged to use extreme caution and to obey all posted signs and instructions of crews working at the site.
