El Dorado County celebrates Probation Services Week

For more than 100 years Probation in California has led, collaborated, and defended effective practices within the justice system. Probation is focused on helping justice involved individuals transition out of the system permanently through transformative and evidence-based rehabilitation. Probation Departments are a connector in the justice system: interlacing and maximizing the resources available within the courts, local governments, law enforcement, social services, schools, non-profits, and the community to reduce recidivism by carefully balancing direct human services and research-based deterrents and interventions. Together, this approach provides the help and accountability needed to create hope and restore trust.

Probation Services Week will take place from July 18 - 24, 2021 in honor of Probation professionals who work to keep communities safe and support the rehabilitative process for their clients.

El Dorado County Chief Probation Officer Brian Richart will be presenting to the Board of Supervisors a Proclamation and Presentation highlighting the good works of the El Dorado County Probation Department on July 20, 2021.

"During Probation Services Week, we recognize our well-trained and compassionate professionals for their dedication to our entire community, including victims, families, and clients," said Chief Richart.

In addition to activities planned throughout the week in honor of its teams, the Department will be hosting the first Sacramento Region Battle of the Badges blood drive. The Battle of the Badges is a friendly competition between law enforcement, fire, and emergency personnel raising awareness of the ongoing need for blood donation throughout our communities. There is currently a severe blood shortage throughout the United States. Blood drive participants will receive a Vitalant Battle of the Badges T-shirt. Please join us on Thursday, July 22 from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. and from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you would like to participate, please schedule an appointment by calling Vitalant at 866-822-5663 or emailing Jennifer Delgado at jennifer.delgado@edcgov.us. The blood drive will be held in the EDC
Probation Training Room, 3974 Durock Road, Suite 205, Shingle Springs, CA 95682.
