Heat wave continues around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Triple-digit heat will be continuing for much of the upcoming week in the lower elevations, with upper-80s and a couple of 90s for the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Fire weather concerns increase the next few days, with isolated dry thunderstorms possible tonight and enhanced breezes Monday and Tuesday. Isolated thunderstorm chances continue each afternoon and evening through Wednesday.

The weekly forecast for the Lake Tahoe Basin from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 56. South wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 86. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tuesday Night - Clear, with a low of around 53. West wind 5 to 15 mph.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 86. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night - Clear, with a low of around 49.

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 88.

Thursday Night - Clear, with a low of around 53.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 91.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 90.

Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 55.
