South Lake Tahoe forecast: Chance of thunderstorms, rain, and highs into 90s

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Temperatures will continue to run above late July averages in South Lake Tahoe, with the Reno and Carson Valley under moderate-major heat risks with their highs above 100.

The chance for daily thunderstorms continues through Thursday. Storms will be trending wetter through the week with increased chances for localized heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

There will be a cooling trend at the end of the week, with highs in South Lake Tahoe in the low 80s, and possibly high 70s.

The weekly forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 am. Increasing clouds, with a high near 91. Light and variable wind, coming from the west at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low of around 57. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light southwest in the evening.

Tuesday - A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Light southwest wind becoming west at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 57. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light southwest in the evening.

Wednesday - A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Light southwest wind becoming west at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 pm. Partly cloudy, with a low of around 56.

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 86.
