US50 impacts due to brushfire in Pollock Pines, forward progress of fire stopped

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The Ridgeway Fire in Pollock Pines closed lanes of US50 for a while on Sunday, July 21 so firefighters could fight the fire reported just after noon. Quick response from the air and ground stopped the forward progress quickly, and so far seven acres have burned.

Perimeter Map had homes between Pony Express Trail and the highway evacuate, but as of 2 p.m., the mandatory evacuations have been dropped.

A second fire was reported at the same time nearby and small plumes of smoke could be seen at the Alert California cameras.

At this time the cause is unknown but the California Highway Patrol reported a truck towing a travel trailer stopped on the side of the road at the location of the fire.

No other details are available at this time, or the status and size of the second fire.
