Lake Tahoe History Talks on the Beach: Toogee Sielsch and Black Bears

Event Date:
July 26, 2022 - 7:00pm

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is hosting another History Talk on the Beach on Tuesday, July 26 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. This week their guest speaker in South Lake Tahoe urbanized bear expert Toogee Sielsch. He'll be discussing the history of the black bear in Lake Tahoe as well as the current situation.

Toogee first became interested in local bears and their behavior while doing daily early morning walks around South Lake Tahoe. From those first observations to today, Toogee works with Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Fish & Wildlife, and law enforcement to assist with "bear evictions" from local homes, and recently aided National Geographic on a study of urbanized wildlife.

The History Talk is at Lakeview Commons at the corner of Lakeview Avenue and Lake Tahoe Blvd. on the beach-side.
