Normally its the Saint Bernard who does the rescuing, but on Sunday, the tables were turned. The El Dorado County Search and Rescue team hiked in two miles on the Mt. Tallac trail Sunday evening to rescue a hiker who was stranded with her 110-pound dog Mia.
The eight-year-old dog was suffering from fatigue and hurt paws and her owner couldn't make it down the trail with the injured dog. Other hikers in the area called in the emergency to dispatch, saying the four-legged and two-legged hikers needed assistance.
SAR came, loaded Mia onto a litter, and her owner and the volunteers all hiked down the hill together.
