Things warming up again around Lake Tahoe; Chance of thunderstorms returns

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After a cooler weekend, temperatures will start a gradual warming trend this week, with them back above average by mid-week. Smoke from the Park Fire will continue to impact portions of northeast California and western Nevada through the week, mostly north of Lake Tahoe.

The potential for thunderstorms returns late this week and into the weekend. Beyond that, things are looking warm for South Lake Tahoe (see map above).

The weekly forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 79. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low of around 40. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light after midnight.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind, becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low of around 41. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph.

Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low of around 43.

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 85.

Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low of around 45.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 88.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low of around 45.

Saturday - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.
