Teen falls 50 feet to bottom of Eagle Falls at Emerald Bay

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A teenage boy sustained serious injuries after falling at Eagle Falls on Wednesday.

At approximately 1:33 p.m., El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) received a 911 call about a long fall at the falls in Emerald Bay State Park. EDSO was joined by multiple Lake Tahoe area law enforcement, rescue personnel and fire agencies at the scene.

They found the victim had fallen about 50 feet to the base of Eagle Falls. Due to the steep terrain and lack of accessibility, a helicopter hoisted the victim to took them to the an awaiting CALSTAR helicopter at Baldwin Beach. He was then taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

Emergency personnel want to remind all visitors to be careful around the rock formations, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, and trails while recreating in the Lake Tahoe area. Although beautiful, these areas can be very treacherous.
